Low-stress surgery
The entire implant experience at the Schappert Dental Centre is designed to help patients be comfortable and relaxed
 |
An important part of our
low-stress approach is the maintenance of familiar routines |
 |
People need not miss meals
or medications prior to surgery |
 |
Patients wear their own casual clothes, covered
with surgical drapery during the operation to help maintain sterility |
Our techniques make implant surgery a painless experience
 |
People stay awake but lightly sedated during
their surgeries and can resume most normal activities the next day |
 |
A light sedative pill is taken shortly before
surgery and the relaxing sedation gradually wears off after surgery |
 |
Both topical anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia
are used |
 |
Topical anaesthesia is very popular because no
needle is required: it is painted on the gums |
 |
Once topical anaesthesia produces surface numbness,
we establish regional anaesthesia by gently injecting freezing into the
gums |
 |
The freezing gradually wears off after the surgery
during the time people maintain pressure on the gums over their implanted
areas |
